Chapter 2
ALANA I looked at the reflection in the window and saw a tall woman with a pale face and brown eyes. Her long, untrimmed brown hair reached to her waist and her body looked skinny and malnourished. Despite her overall appearance looking ghostly, she had a pretty face. I blinked once before stepping forward and touching my reflection. In just a few years, my skin would become even paler until it looked deathlike. Because of hardship, my long hair would start falling until it became so thin. My eyes would become so sunken and lifeless until they lost all their light... My pretty face that I inherited from my mother would be ruined with scars that became the marks from my years of abuse.
I cast my eyes down as my cheeks throbbed. Despite returning in time, I still could feel the punches and blows on my face. I could not help but furrow my brows as I nibbled my lower lip. "No, that won''t happen anymore..." I softly mumbled before shaking my head. Stepping away from the window, I turned my body and looked at the entrance of Silver Moon High School, a cold glint flashing in my eyes. "That would not happen anymore... because today is the day that I would change my future," I added as my hands formed into fists.
A few moments later, I decisively entered the school. The moment I stepped a foot inside, I heard murmurs immediately surrounding me. "Hey, isn''t that the wolf-less omega?" "Ahhh? Is it really her? What is she doing here?" "No way... wasn''t she kicked out by the Dean?" Loud whispers followed me as I walked towards the garden of the school. At first, some of the whispers were plain curiosity. As seconds passed by, however, they sounded more and more malicious until some of the students started openly voicing their displeasure for my appearance in the school. Suddenly, a huge figure blocked my steps.
"Hey, you filthy omega! How dare you step inside this school? Are you openly opposing the rule of the Dean?" I looked at the haughty figure in front of me and my fingers slightly trembled. I expected that I would see him here, but I did not expect that he would be the first to block me. Jeron Pekas, the future head of the sentinels, gave me a cold look. If the future would not change, Harold would be using me as a scapegoat for a mistake that he made and Jeron would be assigned to punish me with twenty slashes of whip on my back.
"What? Can''t even dare to open your mouth now?" Jeron sneered, clearly looking down upon me. Jeron was someone who loved to flaunt his power and bully the weak. Since I was the weakest in the pack, he would often mistreat me whenever he saw me. In fact, if this situation happened in the future, Jeron would have already used his aura against me and forced me to kneel before him until I coughed out blood. But at that moment, he was just a high school senior whose wolf was still immature. He still did not have the authority and bloodlust that used to make me tremble with fear.
"I am here as a student. I don''t have any intention of opposing the Dean," I answered him, trying to sound calm.
"What? Student? Did you hit your head hard and forget you were already kicked out by the Dean?" Jeron roared in laughter as if he just heard a funny joke.
What he said was true. The Silver Moon High School was organized to educate the young werewolves and help them control their power and establish their hierarchy. I was a powerless omega who failed to establish my connection with my wolf. From the moment I entered the school, I have been a pain in the eyes of the Dean. Thus, only a few months after I entered the school, the Dean "considered" my unique situation and instead of allowing me to take the classes, he "assigned" me to do practical work that would "assist" me in establishing my connection with my wolf.
Of course, it was just his made-up reason to basically kick me out of school and force me to slave myself away by doing all kinds of dirty jobs in the pack. Originally, I would listen to his order and stay away from the school and meet Harold while I was assisting the warriors by cleaning their dirty laundry. But I could not do it anymore. I have to immediately meet Harold who was a student in the school and be rejected by him. That was my only way to see "him." My eyes shone with determination.
Maybe he got annoyed by my silence, a cold expression appeared on Jeron''s face. "Are you kidding me? Or are you just asking for a beating?" He sneered before pushing me by the shoulder, making me stumble hard on the ground. I winced, feeling the pain from my shoulders. I was a wolfless girl and the weakest omega in the entire Silver Moon pack. The simple push that I received from Jeron pushed my shoulder blades out of place.
"Yo, Jeron. You pushed her damn hard. Look at her shoulder, it''s dislocated!" Someone whistled from my behind.
"What do you mean he pushed her hard? In my opinion, this smelly omega should be pushed harder until her bones crack! Who told her to enter our school and pollute the air here?!" The pretty girl beside Jeron scoffed.
At that point, I was already surrounded by a huge crowd. But it was not enough. I needed a bigger commotion. Ignoring the pain on the shoulder, I stood up before walking towards Jeron, intending to decrease the distance between us. Jeron saw into my intention and his eyes widened. "What the hell?!" he screeched before, with a force much stronger than he earlier used, pushed me away.
I heard the bone of my left arm snap as I fell on the ground. Around me, the students gasped and screamed in shock. I bit my lower lip to stop myself from moaning in pain. That''s right, I thought as I listened to the noisy crowd. Louder... make it louder please... to the point that everyone in the school becomes aware of this... and he comes running over here. I thought as cold sweat ran down my spine.
Fortunately, fate did not fail me. A couple of seconds later, I heard a very familiar voice that used to permeate deep in my heart. At the corner of the hallway, Harold, who acted as the leader of the senior students, arrived with a cold expression on his face. "Someone, explain what is happening here!" He narrowed his eyes as he surveyed the crowd with his gaze. Soon, his eyes looked in my direction.
Then, I saw it. Harold froze before his entire face turned so pale. His eyes that were just looking at everyone coldly were instantly filled with shock and horror.
''Heh...'' I secretly let out a sneer. ''So that''s how he looked at me before...
''I was really so blind,'' I thought as I gripped my hands hard, preventing them from shaking. Something unfamiliar emerged in my heart. Instead of looking down and avoiding his hurtful expression, I lifted my chin and looked at Harold straight in the eyes. Then, without warning, I let out a smile that was not a smile and told him with the clearest voice I could have, "Hello, mate."
